Neck

Cosmetic neck surgery has proven to be a safe and reliable solution to the problem of aging neck skin. Here at Capital Facial Plastic Surgery, Dr. Adam Singleton performs two types of plastic surgery for your neck: the neck lift and neck liposuction.

Neck Lift

Sagging skin on the neck is a common complaint as patients begin to age. It can be treated with a surgical procedure known as a neck lift, or lower rhytidectomy. This procedure addresses aging skin in the jaw, neck, and lower chin.

Your neck plastic surgeon can treat many common signs of aging in the neck, including jowls, or loose skin and fat on the lower face; fat under the chin a.k.a. double chin; muscle banding, or platysma banding; and relaxed skin and wrinkling on the neck.

In the neck tightening surgery, Dr. Singleton makes well-hidden incisions behind the ears and, if needed, under the chin. He then tightens the muscles, repositions tissue, and redrapes the skin. If necessary, excess skin is removed. Liposuction may also be performed. Once the ideal results are attained, the incisions are sutured closed to allow for recovery to begin. The procedure takes between 2 to 3 hours to complete.

Most patients are able to return home a few hours after their procedure but will need a caregiver to help them around the house for the first two days. Several weeks to a few months of healing are required before one can make a full recovery.

The neck tightening surgery results typically last between 10 and 15 years.

Neck Liposuction

Excess fat in the neck and under the chin is a common complaint from many of our patients. Fat in these areas can make you look older or heavier and is often resistant to regular exercise and a healthy diet. We offer neck liposuction to remove this unwanted fat and to restore a more attractive neck silhouette.

The procedure involves your neck plastic surgeon making easily concealed incisions near the chin and neck. A thin tube known as a cannula is then inserted into these insertions. Using suction, this tube sucks out unwanted fat from the problem area. Once a smooth, even result has been achieved, your neck is wrapped in bandaging. The procedure is relatively quick, taking only 1 to 2 hours from start to finish.

Recovery from this type of neck tightening surgery is minimal, with most patients being able to resume regular activities within a few days. Leave from work lasting around a week is advised.

Your neck liposuction results can last between 7 and 10 years before said results gradually disappear due to aging.
