More Questions About Botox Answered

Botox® is the most popular non-invasive cosmetic treatment in the country and key locations around the world for three reasons: it’s practically painless, it’s effective, and it’s minimally-invasive. Now, these are generally what every patient should expect from their Botox® treatment, but your results and overall experience still depend on where you had your treatment and who administered the injections.

With that said, make sure you have the procedure done at a licensed and reputable clinic, and that injections will be administered by a licensed facial plastic surgeon because they are more knowledgeable about facial anatomy than any other cosmetic specialist.

Want to know more about Botox®? Here are few other common questions asked by first-time patients:

Is there a right age to get Botox®?

Age-wise, there isn’t a strict and set standard for this other than the patient must be of legal age. There are patients who choose to get a Botox® treatment in their 20s as a preventive measure, and there are those who don’t get Botox® until they are in their 40s, 50s, and 60s, when wrinkles usually become more prominent — and bothersome — for a lot of people.

Can I have too much Botox®?

Doctors recommend getting a Botox® treatment after the initial results have started to fade; that is, you notice dynamic wrinkles appearing again. Follow-up treatments are usually four to six months after treatment. Again, you should consult a licensed and experienced doctor (with a reputation for excellent results) to determine how many doses you will need per treatment, and when follow-up treatments should be done.

And yes, you can have too much Botox®. If you notice people with the “frozen” look, or those who have lost their facial expressions, this usually means they were given a higher dose than necessary or their treatments weren’t properly spaced apart.

How do I choose the right clinic for me?

There are several ways to choose a clinic for your treatment. You can ask people you trust for referrals. You can search the internet for the best Botox® clinic in your area. But the bottom line is, a consultation is arguably one of the best ways to determine whether or not a clinic is right for you.

Choose a doctor that makes you feel comfortable and heard. Building a good doctor-patient relationship is key to a successful skin rejuvenation journey.
